Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in the Kurunegala and Hambantota districts after 1.00 pm today.
According to the Department of Meteorology, fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places.
A few showers may occur in the Western Province and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Meanwhile, a few showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle. Showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and Batticaloa during the evening or night.
Winds will be Westerly to south-westerly in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota. Wind speed will be 30-40 kmph and can increase up to 50-55 kmph at times. Winds will be southwesterly or variable in direction, and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph in the other sea areas around the island.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota may be rough at times. The sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Galle may be fairly rough at times. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
