The President’s Entitlements (Repeal) Bill will be taken up for its second reading and debate in Parliament tomorrow (10 Sept).
According to the Parliament, the debate has been scheduled from 11.30 am to 03.30 pm.
This decision was reached during today’s Parliamentary Business Committee meeting, chaired by the Speaker.
Earlier today, Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne announced that the Supreme Court has determined that no provision of the President’s Entitlements (Repeal) Bill is inconsistent with the Constitution.
The Speaker further said that, as such, the Supreme Court states that the Bill can be enacted with the simple majority of Parliament. (Newswire)
