Sri Lanka are set to consider batter Janith Liyanage for their Asia Cup squad after leaving one spot open in the 17-man limit.

The selectors had originally named only 16 players, and Liyanage has already travelled to Dubai along with Wanindu Hasaranga, who will also link up with the team. However, Sri Lanka Cricket has not issued an official statement confirming whether Liyanage is part of the squad or travelling as a standby.

The Sri Lanka squad arrived in Dubai today ahead of the tournament. Captain Charith Asalanka will represent the side at the eight-captain press conference this afternoon during the official launch of the Asia Cup.

Sri Lanka will train and be based in Abu Dhabi during the group stage and are scheduled to face Bangladesh on September 13 in Abu Dhabi. (Newswire)
