Several spells of showers will occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts today.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Northern, Eastern and Uva provinces after 1.00 pm.
According to the Department of Meteorology, fairly heavy falls of about 50 mm are likely at some places.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers may occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle and in Mannar to Kankasanthurai.
Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50-55 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
