A 35-year-old woman was reported dead after the van she was travelling in had collided with a lorry on the Southern Expressway this morning (16).
According to reports, the van had been travelling towards Colombo when it collided with the rear of a lorry near the 9.6-kilometre post on the Southern Expressway.
The van had been transporting eight individuals, including three small children, from Thawalama to the Katunayake International Airport to receive a person returning to Sri Lanka after working in Israel.
Following the accident, the driver, a man, and two women had been hospitalised, during which one woman succumbed to injuries.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of the Thawalama area. (Newswire/ Image- Accident1st)
