Former Sri Lanka cricketer Sachithra Senanayake was served indictments under the Prevention of Sports-Related Corruption Act on charges linked to match-fixing, the Attorney General’s Department said.
The case was taken up before the Hambantota High Court, where indictments were formally served. The court ordered Senanayake to provide fingerprints and released him on two personal bail bonds of Rs. 1 million each.
The charges relate to the Lanka Premier League matches between Nov. 21–22 in 2020.
Senanayake is accused of attempting to influence Colombo Kings player Tarindu Ratnayake by persuading him not to disclose an alleged offer to the International Cricket Council’s Anti-Corruption Unit, while also providing guidance and encouragement to support the attempt. (Newswire)
