Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts today, with heavy rainfall of about 100 mm expected in some areas, the Department of Meteorology said.
A few showers may occur in the North-Central Province, while showers or thundershowers are likely in parts of Uva, Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2 p.m.
Fairly strong winds of 40–50 kmph can be expected over the western slopes of the central hills and in Central, Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces, as well as in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
Meanwhile, showers are also expected in sea areas from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle. Winds will be south-westerly at 30–40 kmph, increasing to 55–65 kmph at times in sea areas off Galle to Pottuvil and Puttalam to Kankasanthurai. (Newswire)
