The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for the Naval and fishing communities, advising them to be vigilant of strong winds and rough seas.
According to the department, showers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 55-60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Matara and Hambantota, and from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar. Wind speed can increase up to 50-55 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo and from Kankasanthurai to Trincomalee.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Matara and Hambantota, and from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar, will be rough to very rough at times. The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo and from Kankasanthurai to Trincomalee may be rough at times.
The Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard. (Newswire)
