President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is set to begin his official visit to Japan today (Sept. 27), following the conclusion of his trip to the United States, where he attended the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
The President departed New York for Tokyo on Sept. 25, according to the President’s Media Division. His visit, at the invitation of the Japanese government, will run from Sept. 27 to 30.
During the trip, President Dissanayake will meet His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and hold summit talks with the Japanese Prime Minister on a range of bilateral issues, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
He is also scheduled to address a Business Forum in Tokyo with senior representatives of Japanese companies and investors, focusing on economic opportunities in Sri Lanka.
The President will attend “EXPO 2025 Osaka” as a Guest of the Government of Japan for Sri Lanka Day, showcasing the country’s cultural heritage and economic potential. He will also meet with members of the Sri Lankan community in Japan.
Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and senior government officials are accompanying the President. (Newswire)
