Chairman of the Sri Lanka Thriposha Limited, Amal Attanayake, says Thriposha production in Sri Lanka has been temporarily suspended since the 21st of September.
According to News First, the Sri Lanka Thriposha Company has announced that the suspension was due to the unavailability of maize required for production.
Despite Cabinet approval having previously been granted to import 18,000 metric tons of maize for Thriposha production, the Controller General of Imports and Exports had presented amendments to the approval.
Amal Attanayake revealed that the maize importation has been halted until the new Cabinet paper, inclusive of those amendments, is presented to the Cabinet on 07th October and receives approval.
Stating that as a result, the production of Thriposha has been temporarily suspended, he said Thriposha production will return to normal once maize imports resume after the 7th of October. (Newswire)
