The Sri Lankan Police says the live hand grenades found in Modara yesterday were linked to investigations into several suspects in hiding with around 100 live hand grenades.
According to the Police, a suspect with a T-56 firearm was arrested by the Kiribathgoda Police recently.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of two other suspects with 86 live hand grenades in the Settikulam area in Vavuniya.
Further investigations revealed that several other suspects connected to the incident were in hiding with around 100 live hand grenades.
Based on a tip-off received by the officers of the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID), 10 live hand grenades were discovered near the Modara Police Station yesterday (30).
The live hand grenades have been handed over to the Modara Police Station. The TID and the Modara Police are conducting further investigations. (Newswire/ Image- File Pic)
