The son of Anura Vidanagamage, alias “Middeniya Kajja,” has denied reports claiming that his father was the individual identified in a vehicle that pursued rugby player Wasim Thajudeen before he died in 2012.
The Police told the media yesterday that “Middeniya Kajja” was recognized by his widow in connection with the case.
However, addressing the media, the underworld figure’s son revealed that during initial interrogations by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), his mother had denied that the individual was her deceased husband “Middeniya Kajja”.
The 16-year-old boy further said that, however, soon after his mother was escorted to a separate room, away from him, and he was unsure what was said in there.
The boy also revealed that he was estranged from his mother due to her being involved in an extramarital affair with an individual who had previously worked as his father’s driver.
“When the CID showed me a video and questioned me to identify the individual in connection with the case of the person who died in 2012, I told them the person’s physique does not look like my father. I also told that my father does not smoke or drink. The person in the video was drinking a can of beer. My father has nothing to do with this incident,” the boy added.
He alleged that his mother may have identified the individual involved in the death in 2012 as his father out of spite. (Newswire)
