
The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers or thundershowers across most parts of the island after 1 p.m. today.
Atmospheric conditions are favourable for evening thunderstorms, and the public is advised to take precautions against strong winds and severe lightning.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely in parts of the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central, and Uva provinces.
Light morning showers may occur in the Western and North-Western provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers are expected in several sea areas around the island. Winds will be southwesterly or variable, with speeds ranging from 25 to 35 km/h.
Seas are expected to be slight to moderate, but may become very rough with strong gusty winds during thundershowers. (Newswire)
