The government has introduced a new “Ministerial Results Framework” for 22 line ministries and affiliated institutions, covering the period 2025–2029, to strengthen results-based management in the public sector.
Prepared by the Department of Project Management and Monitoring of the General Treasury, the framework aligns with the current administration’s policy objectives and aims to ensure that development goals are achieved within the designated timeframes of each ministry.
The initiative is designed to improve efficiency, accountability, and coordination across ministries, ensuring that public sector projects deliver timely results while boosting public confidence in government-led investments.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, to institutionalize results-based management across the public sector. The new system will integrate the “Ministerial Results Frameworks” with each ministry’s annual action plan and budget strategy. (Newswire)
