Public consultations regarding the electricity tariff revision proposal submitted by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) conclude today.
The consultation process, which began on September 18 and covered all provinces, is scheduled to hold its final session today, focusing on the Western Province.
In accordance with Section 30 of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 20 of 2009, the Ceylon Electricity Board submitted a tariff review proposal on 27th August 2025, covering the quarter of October–December 2025.
The PUCSL states that the CEB requested a 6.8% tariff increase, citing rising costs in generation, distribution, and finance.
The previous tariff review, conducted in June 2025, covered the period from June to December 2025, whereas the current review focuses on the period from October to December 2025.
It is reported that the PUCSL is expected to announce its final decision, based on all feedback and suggestions, during the second week of this month. (Newswire)
