In line with the 76th Army Day celebrations, five brigadiers have been promoted to the rank of Major General.
The recommendation for the promotions was made by Secretary of Defence Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyyikontha and Army Commander Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo.
Recognizing the service of the five brigadiers, who were wounded in the line of duty, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, as the Commander of the Armed Forces, has officially promoted them to the rank of Major General, the Sri Lanka Army stated.
