Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe expressed strong criticism of MP Harsha de Silva, following remarks made by the latter over alleged rebranding plans of the Suwaseriya ambulance service.
“I think MP Harsha de Silva doesn’t have a party, leadership, or constituency — basically, he has no political future. He’s now left with the COPF and a few speeches in Parliament,” the deputy minister said.
“So we should feel for his situation, as he’s now trying to stay in the news somehow,” he added, responding to reporters’ questions regarding MP de Silva’s comments.
The deputy minister noted that the public is aware of how the Suwaseriya service has progressed this year, with the government providing the necessary support and introducing innovation. “It’s moving forward very well,” he said.
“We should also remind Harsha de Silva that Suwaseriya is not a personal property. This is a national project implemented with funding from the Indian government and the involvement of the Sri Lankan government. Nobody can issue birth certificates for a national project,” he further said.
He added that going forward, the current government is responsible for the success of the Suwaseriya program, which should be judged based on the quality of service provided to the people. “Criticism is valid only if there is a lack of service,” he remarked.
