A promotional video featuring Australian cricketers mocking India’s recent handshake controversy with Pakistan was deleted following public backlash.
The clip, produced by Kayo Sports, showed players from Australia’s men’s and women’s teams joking about India’s refusal to shake hands with Pakistan during the Asia Cup. At the start of the video, a voice said, “We all know India is on its way. But we’ve identified one critical weakness.”
Players including Mitchell Marsh and Sophie Molineux then appeared making insulting gestures, with Molineux seen raising her middle finger.
The video quickly drew criticism online for being disrespectful ahead of India’s upcoming series against Australia. Kayo Sports later removed the post from its social media channels and did not issue an official statement.
The incident comes as India and Australia prepare to face each other in a limited-overs series later this month. (Newswire)
