Showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 pm today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
As such, fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-central and North-western provinces.
Showers may occur in the Western and Southern provinces in the morning too.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island
Winds will be south-westerly or variable, and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be moderate at times. The other sea areas around the island will be slight. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
