Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) national organizer MP Namal Rajapaksa has stated that the party will require candidates to submit a police report to ensure they have no links with organized criminals or drug smugglers.

The MP made these remarks while speaking to reporters after attending a meeting of the SLPP youth group.

“We have all kinds of people in the party, but what’s important is that a new group of youngsters has rallied around us, sharing a common vision and policy. These young members have a great opportunity within our party,” he said.

“I believe provincial council elections will be held in the near future. As a party, we need to make decisions on contesting these elections and providing nominations. This time, it will be mandatory for candidates to submit a police report to ensure they do not have any links with organized crime or drug activities,” he added.
