Fake ID Scam: Man nabbed for posing as Bribery Commission official

A GPS technical manager of a private company was arrested yesterday (22) on charges of impersonating an officer of the Bribery Commission and attempting to influence government officials in the execution of their official duties.

According to the Bribery Commission, the arrest was made based on confidential information received, which led to a raid and the suspect being taken into custody.

It is alleged that the suspect had created a fake identification card resembling that of a Bribery Commission officer and used it to pose as an official of the Commission. 

He reportedly presented this ID to government officers and attempted to exert pressure on them regarding the performance of their official duties.

The individual arrested is a GPS technical manager at a private company based in Polonnaruwa.

The suspect was taken into custody in Polonnaruwa last evening and is scheduled to be presented before the Polonnaruwa Magistrate’s Court. (Newswire)
