Sri Lanka’s New Ports & Civil Aviation Minister to visit India

Sri Lanka’s Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Anura Karunathilake, will visit India from October 27 to 28, 2025, to take part in the Indian Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, the High Commission of India in Colombo announced today.

The event, organized by India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, will be held at the Bombay Exhibition Center and is expected to bring together global maritime leaders, industry representatives, and policymakers to discuss advancements in port infrastructure, logistics, and sustainable maritime development.

During his visit, Minister Karunathilake is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, to strengthen cooperation in port development, shipping, and logistics between the two countries. He will also attend the ministerial plenary of the India Maritime Week and meet leading figures from the maritime and industrial sectors. Key site visits have also been arranged as part of his visit.

The High Commission said the Indian Maritime Week, taking place from October 27 to 31, will serve as a major platform for fostering international collaboration, modernizing port operations, and attracting global investment in shipping and logistics.

The participation of the Sri Lankan Minister, the statement added, highlights the deepening economic partnership between Sri Lanka and India and their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, logistics, and infrastructure development. (Newswire)
