A 15-year-old boy in the United Kingdom has been sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 16 years, for the murder of another teenager during a lunchtime attack at a school in Sheffield.
The fatal incident occurred earlier this year when the victim, also a student, was stabbed during the school lunch break. Emergency services rushed the boy to hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
Prosecutors told the court that the attack was premeditated, with the offender bringing a knife to school. The judge described the act as a “shocking and senseless act of violence” that had devastated two families and shaken the local community.
The teenager was convicted of murder following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court. The court heard evidence that the assault was carried out in front of other students, leaving many traumatized.
