Rain expected in a few areas today

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces after 2.00 pm today. 

According to the Department of Meteorology, mainly fair weather will prevail in the other areas of Sri Lanka. 

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the midnight and early hours of the morning. 

Meanwhile, mainly fair weather will prevail in the sea areas around the island. 

Winds will be South-westerly or variable in direction, and speed will be 20-30 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 40-45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar. 

The sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar will be moderate at times. The other sea areas around the island will be slight. (Newswire)
