Sri Lanka’s Official Reserve Assets slightly decline in October

November 10, 2025 at 12:26 PM

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka reported that the country’s official reserve assets stood at USD 6,216 million at the end of October 2025, marking a slight decline of 0.4% compared to USD 6,244 million recorded at the end of September 2025.

The primary contributor to this decline was a 1.3% drop in foreign exchange reserves, which fell from USD 6,179 million to USD 6,100 million during the month.

However, a notable development was the 36.6% increase in gold reserves, which rose from USD 58 million to USD 80 million in October. Analysts attribute this surge to the sharp rise in global gold prices during the same period. (Newswire)
