The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts today.
Per the advisory, effective until 11.00 pm today, red alerts have been issued to 09 districts and amber alerts to 14 districts.
The department warns that there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activity. (Newswire)
