Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) Lalith Pathinayake, who was serving as the acting SDIG in charge of the Police Administration Division, has been removed from that position following disciplinary action by the National Police Commission.
However, Pathinayake will continue to serve as the SDIG responsible for the Central Province.
Following this change, the National Police Commission has approved the appointment of SDIG Sanjeewa Dharmaratne, in charge of the Western Province, to the acting SDIG post for the Police Administration Division.
With Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya currently on an overseas visit, SDIG Sanjeewa Dharmaratne is also performing duties as the acting IGP.
