MP Jagath Vithana says he will not accept the cab allocated to him under the 2026 budget proposal, which includes the import of vehicles for Members of Parliament.
In a letter, he requested that the government refrain from importing a cab for him, noting that only 1,774 vehicles should be brought down if his request is honoured. He stated that importing 1,775 cabs despite his refusal would be a serious injustice to taxpayers.
Vithana has also asked to be formally informed of the Ministry of Finance’s decision regarding his request. (Newswire)
