
Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Sports, Sugath Thilakaratne, arrived in Pakistan this morning (19 November) on an official visit undertaken on the instructions of the Minister of Sports.
According to the Ministry, the visit follows an official invitation extended by the Government of Pakistan. Thilakaratne will attend the Sri Lanka–Pakistan–Zimbabwe Tri-Nation T20 Series and meet members of the Sri Lankan team with the aim of boosting player morale.
Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Rear Admiral (Retd.) Fred Senewiratne, welcomed the Deputy Minister upon his arrival in Islamabad.
The Ministry said the visit comes as the situation in Pakistan has drawn heightened attention, and that the Deputy Minister is expected to assess the mental wellbeing of Sri Lankan players during the tour. The objective is to help maintain a positive mindset within the squad and strengthen their confidence ahead of the remaining matches. (Newswire)
