The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-western provinces and the Galle and Matara districts today.
According to the advisory, effective until 11.30 pm, red alerts have been issued to the 14 districts, while amber alerts have been issued to 09 districts.
Warning that there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers, the department has urged the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activity. (Newswire)
