Sri Lanka Police have issued special conditions regarding the use of sound amplification systems at a public rally scheduled to be held today (November 21, 2025) at 2.00 p.m. at the Ananda Samarakoon Open Air Theatre within the Mirihana Police Division.

According to a Police statement, the rally organisers had requested permission from the Mirihana Police to use sound amplification equipment for the event. However, Police noted that several GCE Advanced Level examination centres are located in close proximity to the rally venue, and the use of loud sound systems could disrupt students sitting for the ongoing examinations.

The Police highlighted that A/L examinations are being conducted from 8.30 a.m. to 11.40 a.m. and again from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. today, and stressed that any activities interfering with the examination process would negatively impact candidates.

As a result, Police have instructed organisers to strictly adhere to existing laws and regulations governing the use of sound equipment and to ensure that no disturbance is caused to students entering, sitting for, or leaving the examination centres.

Police further stated that permission has been granted to use sound systems only within the designated rally premises and that all licence conditions must be strictly followed.

Sri Lanka Police reiterated that the primary objective of these measures is to safeguard the rights of students and ensure uninterrupted conduct of the Advanced Level examinations. (Newswire)
