Former SLBFE Chairman remanded by Court

The former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), Mohamed Hilmy, who was arrested by the Bribery Commission on charges of financial misappropriation, has been remanded. 

The former SLBFE Chairman was remanded until December 09 after being produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today. 

According to the Bribery Commission, he is accused of having unfairly presented a bid to an institution named JSF Holding in the process of selecting an institution to provide training for officers of the SLBFE, during his tenure as Chairman in 2024. 

This facilitated the improper payment of Government funds amounting to over Rs. 05 million to the said institution, the Commission said. (Newswire)
