
A productive meeting has been held on the preparations for the Sri Lanka Expo 2026, which returns after 13 years.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Arun Hemachandra, together with Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship, Chathuranga Abeysinghe.
The meeting brought together the Secretary to the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship, Thilaka Jayasundara, EDB Chairman Mangala Wijesinghe, Senior Director General (Economic Affairs) Dharshana, Directors and Assistant Directors of both Ministries. Heads of Mission and Commercial Diplomats participated virtually, reflecting strong cross-government engagement.
Sri Lanka Expo 2026 aims to support the country’s broader national efforts toward building a stable, predictable, and investor-friendly economic environment.
The Export Development Board (EDB) has already set clear export targets, and today’s discussions focused on aligning institutional preparations to ensure robust international participation and to position Sri Lanka’s export sector for enhanced global visibility.
The meeting reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to making Sri Lanka Expo 2026 a landmark platform for trade, investment, and economic cooperation. (Newswire)
