Ather Energy, India’s electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has launched its second scooter in Sri Lanka, the Ather Rizta, building on the success of its 450X, introduced last year. Founded by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, Ather has focused on delivering reliable engineering, smart software, and practical safety features in its vehicles. The company has quickly expanded its presence in Sri Lanka and now operates 40 experience centres to provide information, test rides, and support for customers interested in switching to electric mobility.

The Ather Rizta priced starting at 699,900 LKR sits in the fastest growing price segment of 600,000 to 800,000 LKR, in Sri Lanka’s scooter market. This price range reflects the increasing demand for high-quality products that provide better performance, reliability, and technology than the earlier wave of low-cost imports. The Rizta is designed to serve commuters and daily riders who want a vehicle that is both practical and equipped with modern features for a more convenient riding experience.

Ather distinguishes itself from many other electric scooter options by developing its core technologies in-house. These include the battery system, vehicle intelligence platform (Ather Stack), software architecture, chassis, and thermal management system. By handling these key elements internally, Ather is able to address common concerns such as battery degradation, reduced performance on inclines, and inconsistent after-sales support, which are often cited by electric scooter users. This vertically integrated approach ensures that the scooters meet high standards for performance and reliability.

Quality and reliability are central to Ather’s offering. Each scooter comes with a 5-year / 60,000 km battery warranty, with the option to extend up to 8 years / 80,000 km, guaranteeing at least 70% battery health over the warranty period. This gives riders confidence in the durability of the vehicle over several years of daily use. In addition, Ather is investing in a fast-charging network in key Sri Lankan cities, which allows riders to add significant range in just 10 minutes. This follows the successful model implemented in India, where the company has over 3,500 Ather Grid fast-charging stations, ensuring convenient and reliable charging infrastructure.

The Rizta focuses on technology, practicality, and convenience. It is equipped with a touchscreen dashboard, onboard Google Maps navigation, ride analytics, and assisted riding features such as Auto Hold and Magic Twist, which enhance the rider’s experience. The scooter also offers 56L of storage and a certified range of 123 km, making it suitable for commuting, errands, and urban travel. By integrating these features, Ather aims to provide a connected and intuitive riding experience, helping riders manage their trips efficiently and stay informed about their vehicle performance.

For Sri Lankan riders, the Ather Rizta is more than just a scooter; it represents a practical upgrade in daily mobility. Its combination of reliable performance, technology-led features, and convenience makes it a strong option for commuters who are looking for both efficiency and ease of use.

With the launch of the Rizta, Ather Energy is further expanding its presence in Sri Lanka and contributing to the country’s gradual transition toward electric mobility. The combination of quality, technology, and practical features positions the Rizta as a dependable choice for riders seeking a modern alternative to conventional two-wheelers. The company has already begun the deliveries of the Rizta.
