A robber, who attempted to snatch a gold necklace with a pendant from a woman walking along Wakwella Road in the Galle Police Division, has been arrested on the spot by a Police Motorcycle Unit in the area.
The suspect was apprehended on the spot due to the swift action of three officers from the Galle Motorcycle Unit, with CCTV footage of the incident on Monday (24) being widely circulated on social media.
The officers who carried out the arrest were Police Sergeant 16085 Ruwan, Police Constable 23387 Sanjula, and Police Constable 99490 Sampath, all skilled motorcyclists of the Galle Motorcycle Unit.
The suspect was produced before the Galle Magistrate’s Court on November 25 by the Galle Headquarters Police, after which he was remanded for seven days.
