The Department of Meteorology says afternoon showers are expected in some areas of Sri Lanka today.
Accordingly, several spells of showers will occur in the Northern and Southern provinces.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva, North-Central and Eastern provinces after 2.00 pm.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage from temporary, localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, the Deep Depression is located about 360 km North of Kankasanthurai and is likely to recurve slowly southwestwards and weaken further into a depression.
The Met Department states that the warning issued earlier advicing naval and fishing communities not to venture into the sea areas around the island has been withdrawn. (Newswire)
