Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the Northern, North-Central and Eastern provinces and in the Badulla and Matale districts after 2.00 pm today.
According to the Department of Meteorology, misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Southern provinces and in the Kurunegala and Ampara districts in the morning.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Mannar via Kankasanthurai.
Winds will be South-westerly in the sea areas from Kankasanthurai to Matara via Mannar, Colombo and Galle, and winds will be variable in the other sea areas. Wind speed will be 25-35 kmph.
The sea areas around the island may be slight to moderate. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
