Several spells of showers are likely to occur today in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as in Hambantota and Matale districts, The Department of Meteorology said.
Showers or thundershowers are expected in other parts of the island after 1:00 p.m., with fairly heavy rainfall — around 75 mm — likely in some areas of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces.
Misty conditions can be expected in the early morning in parts of the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, and North-Central provinces, and in the Kurunegala and Vavuniya districts.
Showers are expected in sea areas from Kankasanthurai to Hambantota via Trincomalee and Batticaloa. Winds around the island will be north-easterly or variable at speeds of 25–35 km/h. Sea conditions are expected to be slight to moderate.
