
Deputy General Manager of the Ceylon Electricity Board, Noel Priyantha states that around 85% of power connections disrupted due to the emergency disaster situation have now been restored, out of approximately 3.9 million affected consumers.
He made this statement yesterday (04) during a special briefing at the Disaster Management Centre.
He noted that there are nearly 7 million electricity consumers across the country and power connections to 3.9 million of them were disrupted. As of now, around 85% of these consumers have had their electricity supply restored.
During the emergency disaster situation, 16,771 transformers became inactive, and 14,549 of them have already been repaired and restored. He added that the remaining disconnections will be restored as quickly as possible.
The Deputy General Manager further stated with regret that one electricity worker lost his life during these operations. (Newswire)
