Local and overseas donors contribute Rs. 1,893 million to rebuild Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ initiative has received Rs. 1,893 million in financial support from local citizens, Sri Lankans living overseas and a number of private organisations, the Ministry of Finance announced.

Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, said the contributions are being channelled towards restoring communities affected by Cyclone Ditwa, including rebuilding homes, infrastructure, and key public services.

The programme was launched to support long-term recovery, focusing on housing, livelihoods, school reconstruction, irrigation systems, and public infrastructure damaged by the disaster.

The Ministry said contributions continue to be accepted and invited individuals, corporate entities and expatriate Sri Lankans to support the national rebuilding effort. Donations can be made through the official government fundraising portal:
