Former Parliamentarian and President’s Counsel Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe is expected to be appointed as a Senior Deputy Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), party Chairman Nimal Siripala de Silva said.
Speaking at a media briefing on Friday (12), De Silva said the appointment is scheduled to be approved at the party’s upcoming executive committee meeting.
He said longstanding legal disputes related to the SLFP have now been resolved and that an agreement was reached with Rajapakshe to settle the issues through discussion.
De Silva said Rajapakshe had withdrawn six court cases connected to the party and was invited to support the SLFP’s future political programme.
Rajapakshe has already been appointed as the SLFP’s Colombo District Leader and Maharagama electorate organiser, De Silva added. (Newswire)
