
Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath has expressed his condolences to the victims of the attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.
“Deeply saddened by the attack at Bondi Beach. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Australia and reaffirm our strong opposition to terrorism in all its forms,” he said in a post on ‘X’.
Two gunmen opened fire on a Hanukkah celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Sunday night, killing 15 people who ranged in age from 10 years old to 87.
State health officials said at least 40 people remained hospitalised as of Monday morning, including several people in critical condition.
The gunmen were a father and son, according to New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon. The 50-year-old attacker was killed in a shootout with police, while the 24-year-old remains in hospital. (Newswire)
