Officers of the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Division have arrested a man with an illegal stock of Kush drugs valued at approximately Rs. 200 million.
The arrest followed a lengthy investigation into a trafficker who had purchased the stock in Bangkok, Thailand, brought it into Sri Lanka through another individual, and concealed it at his residence.
The suspect, a 34‑year‑old resident of Wattala, was taken into custody last night (14 Dec).
During a raid on his house, police discovered more than 21 kilograms of Kush drugs packed inside 20 unopened travel bags. In addition, USD 4,900 was found in his possession.
The suspect and the seized drugs are scheduled to be produced before the Welisara Magistrate’s Court today (15 Dec). (Newswire)
