Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was among the highest-profile signings so far at the IPL mini-auction on Tuesday, with Kolkata Knight Riders securing his services for INR 25.20 crore following an intense bidding war with Chennai Super Kings.
CSK and KKR went head-to-head for Green, one of the most sought-after players in the auction pool, before KKR eventually sealed the deal at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi as the auction continued.
Under the new IPL mini-auction regulations, Green will not receive the full auction price. As per the revised rules, the player will earn INR 18 crore, while the remaining INR 7.20 crore will be allocated to the IPL Players’ Welfare Fund.
The welfare fund is intended to support current and former players, including assistance for medical needs, financial hardship and post-retirement welfare. (Newswire)
