Commercial Bank donates Rs. 110 million to ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ fund

Sri Lanka’s Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC has donated Rs. 110 million to the government’s ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ fund established to support recovery efforts following Cyclone Ditwah.

The donation was handed over by Commercial Bank Chairman Sharhan Muhseen to Secretary to the President Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday (Dec. 22).

The ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ fund was launched to restore livelihoods and rebuild infrastructure damaged by Cyclone Ditwah, which affected several parts of the country. Contributions to the fund continue to be received from local and international institutions as well as individual donors.

Representing Commercial Bank at the event were Managing Director S. C. U. Manatunga, Chief Operating Officer S. Prabagar and Additional General Manager Ashani Seneviratne.

The donation forms part of ongoing efforts to mobilise public and private sector support for the country’s post-disaster recovery programme.  (Newswire)
