No more waiting – breathalyzers are now available

Sri Lanka Police has announced that equipment used to detect drunk drivers has now been imported into the country.

The Director of the Traffic Headquarters stated that these breathalyzer devices will be dispatched to police stations islandwide starting today (23 Dec).

According to the Traffic Headquarters, following the procurement process, approximately 80,000 breathalyzers imported into the country are scheduled to be distributed among police stations.

The Police further noted that after importation, the devices were sent to the Government Analyst for reporting, which is the standard procedure before distribution.

Accordingly, reports confirm that this process has now been completed. (Newswire)
