Thailand has emerged as the most booked international destination for Indian travellers, overtaking the United Arab Emirates, according to year-end booking data released by MakeMyTrip.
The data, based on bookings made for the year-end holiday period, shows the UAE ranked second, followed by Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Malaysia in the top five international destinations booked by Indian travellers.
Industry analysts attribute Thailand’s top ranking to strong air connectivity, visa-friendly entry policies, competitive pricing and a wide range of leisure offerings. The UAE continued to remain a popular choice due to its short travel time, shopping and family-friendly attractions.
Sri Lanka’s third-place ranking reflects a steady rebound in tourism, supported by improved connectivity, simplified visa access and increased interest from Indian travellers seeking short-haul destinations. Vietnam and Malaysia also recorded strong demand, driven by affordability and growing tourism infrastructure.
MakeMyTrip said the data highlights a clear preference among Indian travellers for short-haul international destinations in Asia and the Middle East during peak travel periods, with ease of travel and value for money emerging as key decision factors. (Newswire)
