The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the signing of a new agreement protocol with Israel to expand the employment of Sri Lankan workers into the country’s commercial and service sectors.
The approval follows earlier agreements signed between Sri Lanka and Israel since 2020, allowing temporary employment for Sri Lankans in sectors including domestic care, agriculture, construction, hotels, housekeeping, cleaning, manufacturing, and catering.
The new ‘Protocol G’ will enable Sri Lankan workers to be officially recruited into commercial and service-related jobs, based on Israel’s recent request, the government said.
The Cabinet endorsed the steps taken by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism to finalize the new protocol under the existing bilateral labour agreement. (Newswire)
