Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands, and Irrigation, K. D. Lal Kantha says media institutions tend to only report on the negatives, often overlooking the positive developments in the country.
Addressing an event, Minister Lal Kantha said that the media institutions publishing news reports on the upsets in the country are themselves flawed.
“The media outlets that spoke of upsets in the country are themselves upset institutions. This is the state of our country,” Minister K. D. Lal Kantha said, commenting on media behaviour in Sri Lanka.
“Media culture is one thing that has not seen a change in this country. According to the media, the government has not provided relief to disaster-hit communities, has not granted compensation to affected farmers, and the government has done nothing. A majority of the media institutions in this country lie. Not even what is said in the newspaper is true today. Newspapers report that there is something wrong with politics and government service, but the newspaper itself is flawed,” he said.
