A Buddha Air flight skidded off the runway while landing at Bhadrapur Airport in Nepal late Friday night, aviation officials said.

The incident involved Flight 901, which was operating a domestic service from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur in the country’s eastern Jhapa district. The aircraft, an ATR 72 turboprop, veered off the runway during landing at around 9 p.m. local time.

Officials said there were 55 people on board, including passengers and crew. All occupants were safely evacuated, and no fatalities or serious injuries were reported.

Airport operations were temporarily disrupted following the incident as authorities secured the aircraft and assessed the runway. A technical team was dispatched to examine the plane and determine the cause of the runway excursion.

Nepal’s civil aviation authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Further details are expected following an inspection of the aircraft and a review of landing conditions at the time. (Newswire)
